A few months ago I did a few videos talking about balance. You can check those videos out here: Video 1 and Video 2. In those videos, we explored static balance which is our ability to remain balanced in a single position like standing with our feet close together and dynamic balance which is our ability to remain balanced when we are moving like walking across a balance beam or climbing stairs. At the end of each of those videos, I gave you guys some fun and simple activities to try when working on balance. Well, after creating the follow along coordination activities and trying them with students, I realized that it might be helpful for me to do that with balance as well.
So, in today’s video I have some follow along balance activity sessions for you. Just like with the coordination video, Conner and Ian will demonstrate the activity and then have you do it with them for about 30 seconds. If we are doing an activity that requires you to switch arms or legs in the middle, you will see a screen pop up that tells you to change sides.
As always, these activities are accessible to all ability levels. The first 2 follow along sessions are in the sitting position, but they are sitting on the floor instead of a chair. Then, I have 2 sessions that will be in standing. These activities will require a few household items to complete, but they are pretty common things and can be substituted for others. So I will give options before each session begins.
Now these activities may be challenging for you, so if you struggle a little I encourage you not to get frustrated. Balance really requires a lot of practice and repetition. I know if you keep trying you will be surprised at how much progress you can make. I have total faith in you!
I hope you had a great time trying these balance sessions. If you have any other fun Balance activities, please share them in the comments below. If you would like to check out more of my 5 minute workouts, click here.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have an amazing week!
