Pediatric Therapy Essentials

Welcome to Pediatric Therapy Essentials. I am so glad you are here. Whether you are a parent or a professional, this site has something for everyone.

Tools and Materials: The primary goal at PTE is to create educational and movement content to support professionals and parents. Within the pages of this website and through the videos on my YouTube Channel, you will find tools and materials such as educational blog posts, follow along workouts and activity videos, digital downloads, equipment and toy recommendations, and apparel. All of these tools and materials are designed to Empower You to Make a Difference in the Life of a Child!

Therapists and Teachers, I hope you find some new ideas here to use with your patients and students. The activities on this site are for children of all ages and ability levels, however you will see a large number of activities for kids with movement limitations. I believe that content focused on these individuals is limited and my goal is to improve that on my little corner of the internet. I know how hard each of you works serving your children and their families. My hope is that these videos and handouts will save you some time and provide you with a little inspiration.

Parents, I hope that you find some hope and inspiration in the videos and activities on this site. These activities are meant to help you work with your child, have fun with your child, and make a difference in their life and yours. Just remember to check with your medical provider before starting any new exercise regimen. The providers on this journey with you know your child so be sure to check with them first.

A little about me…

I guess I should start with the professional basics. I graduated from Furman University in 1996 with a B.S. in Biology and Nova Southeastern University with a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 1998. For the next 6 years I worked in pediatrics in a variety of settings trying to learn as much as possible and gain experience in this field I love. In 2005, I started my own practice providing physical, occupational and speech therapy to children. I successfully ran that company for 9 years. In 2013, I sold my business and moved back to sunny South Florida to be close to my family. Once home, I began working for a local school district and went back to school obtaining my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2018 along with my Board Certification in Pediatrics from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialities in 2018.

On the personal side, I am a single mom with three wild and crazy boys that make life fun! When I actually have some free time, I love cooking and working around my house. I am an avid do-it-yourselfer and will try to fix/create just about anything I get a crazy idea about, as long as I can find a good YouTube video to show me how. Most importantly, I am in love with travel. I love new places, new adventures, and beautiful natural wonders.
